Pros: Best of both worlds - keeping beer cold and the score accurate
Cons: Would love to have a bottle opener on the bottom, fits bottles a little loose
Final Verdict: The Scorzie is a 21-point winner, no matter how you look at it
It's the middle of September and you're outside the stadium having a couple of beers and playing cornhole with a few friends. You finish your last throw, count up your points (eight, of course, because you always get at least one in the hole), but your team and the other team can't agree on the score. Since there's no one around you paying attention, you're left to fight amongst yourselves. No one needs that hassle.
Enter the Scorzie, the beer coozie that has two bands, numbered zero to 21, that allow you to keep score during nearly any tailgating game. It's the ideal solution -- you'll have your beer with you at all times and you can have the score with you, too.
USABLE: 4 for 5
It has all the features you'd want: a coozie to keep your beer cold; a durable, stainless steel shell; two colored bands numbered zero to 21 for nearly any game you'll play outdoors; and padding on the bottom to keep you from scratching the hood of your car. The only downsides? Beer bottles don't fit as snug as cans and there isn't a bottle opener on the actual product. These are the only two features keeping it from being perfect.
One other thing about the colored bands -- they have ridges on the back to help them stay in place, making it a little more difficult to change the score accidentally. A great idea and proof that the inventors were thinking about how the product would be used "in the field".
The Scorzie is little larger than a regular beer coozie, it might be considered a little big. However, it is great to hold, easy to carry around, and the padded bottom eliminates the concern of scratching a surface.
We think the product looks great. The brushed stainless steel outer shell makes the product look sleek and the colored bands pop. The numbers are large and easy-to-read, and the black coozie insert doesn't interrupt any of the product's look. We're especially excited for the potential customization options that could replace the Scorzie logo and, maybe, offer different band colors.
An easy, elegant solution to an obvious tailgating problem. Connecting the dots might seem to be simple, but sometimes its the simple that impresses us most (credit card bottle opener, anyone?). We can certainly attest that the Scorzie has avoided a few fights amongst our friends. Anything that keep that group's competitiveness in check is an award-winner.
We can attest that the product has been an attention-getter. Several people stopped us and asked us about the beer coozie before they even knew it kept score. In addition, the Scorzie was featured on Urban Daddy, an Esquire-like e-publication that is part informational, part Groupon for men. We think that gives it plenty of cool cred.
Keeping a beer cold while avoiding the parking lot version of World War III? Our minor criticisms can't stop us from highly-recommending the Scorzie as one of our favorite new beer accessories.
